Analog and digital

Micro magazine 2017
Tribute to Otl Aicher

This micro-magazine deals with Otl Aicher, his typographic legacy and his manifested view about analog and digital communication in a more and more digital world. In the chapter of his book “analog and digital” he describes the necessity of the analog as orientation and humanity in a complex and modern age.
The design is basically orientated on the typographical work of Otl Aicher. His work is well known for its reduction, clarity and generous white spaces. His text is exclusively set in the font Rotis and is unique due to the complete lack of capital letters. The columns show very little space in between the lines, which leads to a very dark and prominent grey tone.
As a contrast to these special features, the paper und the pictures are untypical colored in order to alienate his strict style in some way. I purposely picked pictures and material to visualize the text in a humourous way and free of Otl Aicher's principals.
